Hi there lovelies! I’m very excited to say that my new blog layout is done!! As you can see, it changed quite a bit and I’m proud to say that it was me who made everything. For the ones that don’t know, I use Blogger, so it can be quite a hassle to customize your layout, but with the help of tons and tons of internet tutorials I managed to do it haha.

I wanted to keep it simple yet “me”, so I first looked at blogs that I like and played around with layouts in Word. I did that to get the main idea of how I wanted my new blog layout to look without having to struggle with coding (yuk). When I got settled on the main idea, I was convinced that I couldn’t pull it off by myself so I let it go until last week.
I came across a post on I Can Build a Blog and started playing around again. I created a private blog where I could experiment with coding and slowly but surely my new layout came together. The layout itself is very similar to what I made in Word. I’m glad that I could pull that off by myself! If you’re thinking about changing your blog layout, I would recommend experimenting with that on a private blog.
My layout got a bit lighter en brighter (at least I think it did haha) and it has some new cool features! I changed pretty much everything about it. It has a different logo, a different background, a different layout in general and so forth and so on. So what’s new?
The biggest difference is that there’s a sidebar now with lots of widgets to keep you busy! At the top we start with a picture of me and a bit of information. This was the easiest to add in as it is pretty standard haha. Then you have social media icons which take you to my social media platforms. I found a great and – most importantly – easy way to add this to my blog! Going down you have my Instagram feed, the three most popular blog posts on this blog, my twitter feed and the blog archive.
Another thing that is different is the dropdown navigation menu. This took some time to figure out, but now you can search for posts by category. If you’d like to know how I did all of this, leave a comment on this post and I will make a separate blog post on it!

I still need to add in a few bits and bobs and tweak it here and there, but the basis is here. I was quite hesitant to make the change, but everything worked out fine and I’m happy I did it.

Lots of love,
