FIRST IMPRESSION | ESTÉE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR FOUNDATION

Hi there lovelies!
As you can tell from the title, I’m going to give you my first thoughts on the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation. I bought this foundation just before Christmas, but I couldn’t find the time to write this post.
I got a sample of this foundation a while before Christmas in the shade 3W2 Cashew. Why do they always give you free samples that are waaaay to dark? Anyway, I got a sample and even though it was completely the wrong shade, I gave it a shot. I fell in love with the finish immediately. I would say it is a medium to full coverage foundation, but on my skin, it looks a lot like normal skin. More on that in the full review!
The packaging is absolutely gorgeous. It has a luxurious feel and it looks just gorgeous. You can definitely tell this is a high-end foundation looking at the packaging.
The foundation has an SPF of 10, which isn’t a lot, but during the winter time this is enough. The bottle is made of frosted glass. Beautiful, but not great for travelling. It is not as lightweight as plastic and it could break. It has gold details and a gold screw cap.
The product claims to have 15-hour staying power, even in high humidity. That it won’t change colour, smudge or come off on clothes. As I said before, it has a medium coverage but it is definitely buildable. It also claims to be lightweight.

I would say the finish is semi-matte. Quite natural really, just what normal skin would look like: not too matte, but not shiny or luminous either.

The formula is oil-free, dermatologist-tested, non-acnegenic and fragrance-free. I will comment on the “fragrance-free” part: it definitely has that foundation smell, but it is just that they did not add a fragrance.
I got the shade 1W2 Sand, which is the lightest shade available in the Netherlands. The shade rage is actually humongous, they have about 30 shades available, but we Dutchies have only about 12 shades available. Fortunately this shade is quite a good match, colour wise you can barely tell the difference I think.
Now here is the biggest disappointment packaging wise. It has a screw cap and no pump. First of all it’s very unhygienic and second you waste a lot of the product because you have to pour it onto your hand. This is quite a pigmented foundation and a little goes a long way. When pouring it onto your hand you cannot really control the flow, resulting in wasting a lot of the foundation.
Before buying the foundation, I searched online if there was a pump you could buy separately. Thank God there is! MAC had a pump that would fit onto the Double Wear Foundation bottle, so I ordered the pump too.
The pump itself is brilliant. I got it for €5,- at Douglas and it’s definitely worth buying as an addition to the Double Wear foundation.
It comes with a cap, so when you’re travelling with it or when you’re not using it, the cap will prevent any foundation that’s still in the nozzle from leaking into your makeup bag.
The pump also has a lock function, which is great for travelling!
There is a slight problem though: the tube of the pump is too long. I’m not sure if you can tell from the picture above, but it is definitely a bit too long.
So now comes the fun part: adding the pump to your foundation!
You have to cut off a part of the tube. I eyeballed it, just hold it next to the bottle and see how much you need to cut off for it to be able to fit. Make sure you cut it at an angle! This is very important. You do not want to cut it in a straight line.
Now all that there’s left to do is screw it on top of your foundation bottle and your done!
Yay!
Now you’re able to control the amount of product that comes out of the bottle without a problem!

Overall I am very excited to try this foundation and I cannot wait to tell you my final thoughts on it soon!

Keep your eyeballs peeled for the full review! <3

Lots of love,
Laurie

Ben benieuwd)
