Hi everyone! Today we’re going to find out if Zoeva’s
227 Soft Definer brush is a dupe for MAC’s famous 217 Blending brush.
A few months back I bought Zoeva’s 227 Soft Definer
brush along with some other brushes. It looks exactly like MAC’s 217 Blending
brush that every beauty lover needs to have in their makeup collection. Is it a
dupe?
MAC’s 217 retails for US$23.00 // £17.00 // €22.00, it is
great for defining your crease or even applying colour to the eyelid, it blends
out your eyeshadow like a dream.
Zoeva’s 227 retails for €5.80, it is great for
blending out eyeshadow. Personally, I think its bristles are a lot softer than
the MAC 217. You can barely tell a difference by eye, but when you feel the
brushes you can tell the 227 is a lot softer. This means that it blends out
colour even more than the 217, but it wouldn’t apply colour as good.
Front view.
Is there a difference in shape as well? Yes, there is
a slight different. When you look closely, you can see the 217 (bottom brush)
is a bit more tapered.
Side view.
Now you can see the difference better. The 217 (bottom
brush) is nice and tapered; it has an oval shape to it. The 227 doesn’t have
this as much, it almost have a triangular shape to it. (If you over exaggerate
a lot haha)
Is it a dupe?
No, it isn’t. Zoeva’s 227 is way too soft to be a dupe,
but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good brush. I love it for further blending out
my crease, so I’m still very happy I bought the brush. You can order your Zoeva brushes here.
Lots of love,
Laurie

oh really? this post is vey useful. Ok I want to ask a important question, according to you which brush is the best blending brush?
ReplyDeletePersonally I think the MAC 217 is a better brush (and not just out of these two but in general too). You can use it for more purposes as it can apply colour as well as blending it. The Zoeva 227 is a lot softer and can only be used to really blend out the edges, I like that about it but I would be fine using the 217 only. Hope this answered your question <3 xoxo

DeleteThank you for your answer :) I have recently heard that MAC company changed brush manufacturer so new MAC brushes have not the same quality like the old ones. Is that news true? Do you know anything about it? I heard that and gave up to buy MAC 217. Instead of it want to buy Zoeva 227. Love ^^
DeleteI don't know anything about MAC changing their manufacturer, but it's true that the quality isn't the same. In my opinion it's still good quality though, the bristles are just not as good as they used to be (they can get a bit more scratchy after a while), nevertheless I still like the brush a lot haha. If I were you I would just visit the counter and see what the brush is like, but don't feel pressured to buy anything. xoxo
DeleteI got it, thank you so much for your detail explanation ;) I will look MAC 217 review with my own eyes and then decide :) thank you so much for your insterest love from Turkey xoxo <3
DeleteI'm glad that I could help! <3 xoxo
