JAPANESE BEAUTY TREND: CROOKED TEETH?!

Last week I read an article on a well-known Dutch beauty blog. For all the Dutchies that are reading this: I’ll put the link at the bottom of this post, so you can read that as well.
We all know the Western standard of what we think is “pretty” or “beautiful”: perfectly, straight and pearly white teeth. Now, I’m not saying that you have to have this in order to have nice teeth. Personally, I think it’s much prettier if you have a bit of over-bite.
In Japan there’s something rather strange happening, well, to me it is. Instead of having these perfectly straight teeth, they want the opposite: crooked teeth.

This trend is called Yaeba, especially women are paying €150 - €400 to get this look, depending on how many teeth they want to have done.
What basically happens is that your canine teeth become a bit longer, a bit more noticeable and a bit more crooked. That way, your teeth look out of balance. It can be done permanently, but you can also choose to get it and let it be removed later.
Your teeth become less perfect, this gives you a kind of childish look. Why do the Japanese people like it so much? Probably because it looks childish, cute, and that’s something they seem to like and find attractive.

What do you think of this trend? Do you think our Western ideal vision on our teeth will chance because of this?

For the Dutchies over here, klick here to read the Dutch beauty blog post on this.

Lots of love,
Laurie

  1. I’ve read some posts about Yaeba, and I must say that the response is great. But I think you should first consult your dentist before going with the trend because it won’t guarantee you a satisfying result if your facial structure doesn’t align with your “crooked” set of teeth.

  2. Getting a teeth brightening pack at a store will regularly furnish you with a non specific plate that you will put over your teeth. In the event that you are simply doing teeth brightening all alone at home you might need to discover a plate that fits your teeth somewhat more precisely. All white 3000

  11. A good way to know if the toothpaste you are using is working is by knowing that a good quality toothpaste will leave your mouth feeling fresh and clean long after you leave the sink.http://finallygetridofbadbreath.com/
